Telstra has announced plans to enable new exchanges for Telstra customers and customers or Telstra resellers.

Customers who have previously been told they weren’t eligible for ADSL or ADSL2+ Broadband, even while their neighbours a few streets away enjoyed the fast speed of Broadband may now be eligible for Broadband thanks to the upgrade announced by Telstra.

The roll-out is expected to upgrade up to 2,000 street cabinets with ADSL and ADSL2+ capabilities over the next 18-months, which will offer Broadband to customers in these areas for the first time. The upgrades have begun in the month of October and will continue through 2012 and 2013 until all areas are complete. All Telstra resellers / wholesalers will also have access to provide services via these exchanges and street cabinets, including iPrimus, iiNet and Eftel.

The following areas have been earmarked by Telstra. Note that these are exchange names, which sometimes don’t match up to suburbs and there are only small portions of these areas which are expected to be enabled.
