50% offThe nations largest broadband provider, Telstra, has chopped the price of its most expensive broadband plan in half.

Telstra broadband plans still come at a premium compared to other providers such as Spin, iiNet and Optus broadband plans which consistently undercut Telstra.

The discounts are on 24 month plans so obviously you are locked in for a long time but if you are looking from a home broadband plan and are unlikely to move then the longer contracts are less of an issue.

“Telstra realises customers’ needs are changing, which is why our new BigPond broadband plans deliver greater data allowances at lower prices, allowing household members to do more on the internet for less,” Telstra Executive Director Consumer, Rebekah O’Flaherty, said in a company statement.

The price cut is part of a series of improvements to the BigPond plans which only a couple of years ago included starter plans with only a few hundred MB limit per month and left customers risking huge bills for going over there data limits which were insufficient for typical needs. The current plans help bring the plans into line with consumer requirements which is a positive move.
