Optus was the next service provider to step up to the plate this week and launch its NBN Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Broadband plans and pricing, offering up a choices of phone and broadband bundles or broadband only Optus dub as a ‘Naked’ broadband service.

Bundled plans start at $109 per month and mirrors their popular Fusion plans which include 500GB of data each month, unlimited standard local and national calls and unlimited calls to any Australia GSM mobile (excluding Pivotel). The $109 price point runs at a download speed of 25Mbps, and for either $10 or $20 extra per month you can upgrade to a download speed of 50Mbps or 100Mbps respectively.

In comparison, while Optus’ bundle plans look like great value, iPrimus’ NBN plans currently offer the Fusion style plan with almost all calls included from $89.95 per month, albeit with a smaller download allowance.

Optus’ standalone broadband or ‘Naked’ plans without a phone service start at $59.99 for 120GB (50GB peak + 70GB off-peak) at the 25Mbps download speed. Again, for $10 or $20 more, like the fusion plans, you can jump up to download speeds of 50Mbps or 100Mbps.

Overall the pricing looks good based on what we’ve seen in the market so far and is less confusing than some other service providers. However, there aren’t many choices in terms of download allowances with Optus’ range of plans, so some might find them a bit restrictive.
